LA Metro Seeking a Chief of Staff

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) is seeking a Chief of Staff to assist in executing Metro’s mission to provide a world-class transportation system that enhances quality of life for all who live, work and play within LA County. The Chief of Staff will provide direct assistance to the Chief Executive Officer on comprehensive planning and administering of Metro’s functions. The final filing date is Friday, February 8, 2019.  This recruitment is closed.

Honoring Latino Military Heroes on Veterans Day

Latinos have a “proud and indeed enviable” record of military service that dates back all the way to the Civil War, according to a U.S. Army historical website.  

About 20,000 Latino serviceman and women participated in Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1990-1991, 80,000 in the Vietnam War in 1959-1973, and more than 400,000 in World War II in 1939-1945.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month 2018

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
